First-quarter reports are arriving from Habele scholars across Micronesia. Their grades, letters and photographs offer a glimpse of the students’ lives and the effort they bring to school. Here are three updates from the start of the 2026–27 school year.

Kahliya Yaromal
Kahliya Yaromal comes from Paies in Kitti, Pohnpei, and attends eighth grade at Pohnpei Catholic School. She and her cousin Rayona Bernardo are both Habele scholars. Kahliya earned a 91 average in the first quarter and writes that she attends math tutoring every Thursday to strengthen her skills.

Alfred Ruiguifmal
Alfred Ruiguifmal has family roots in Falalop, Woleai, and lives in a household of 12 in Rull, Yap. The first grader at Saint Mary’s Catholic School has three siblings who also receive Habele scholarships. His first-quarter report shows a 3.83 GPA, and he recently sent a photograph holding his handwritten thank-you.

Kapono Sigrah
Kapono Sigrah’s family is from Lelu, Kosrae, and lives in Nett, Pohnpei. He is a senior at Xavier High School in Chuuk, where he earned First Honors and a 3.875 GPA this quarter. His teacher also recognized his leadership and active participation in the school’s Kosraean District Community.
This school year, Habele supports 151 scholars across all four states of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Students do the daily work of learning, supported by their families and teachers. Habele’s tuition scholarships help families meet part of the cost of the independent schools they choose. Donors make that assistance possible, helping sustain educational opportunities for students across Micronesia.
