Our work
Opportunity,
year after year.
Tuition scholarships. A book each month. Steady support for island knowledge.
Habele helps families meet school costs and puts books in young children’s hands. We also support the MicSem library and canoe carvers in Yap.

Tuition scholarships
A student’s effort.
A family’s opportunity.
Help families meet the cost of private elementary and high school tuition in the Federated States of Micronesia. Families choose the school, students report their progress, and Habele pays its share directly to the school.

Young Island Readers
A book to keep.
A story to share.
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a new, age-appropriate book is sent each month for enrolled children in Yap State until their fifth birthday, free to their families.
About $30 covers the books for one child for a year.
Continuing commitments
Knowledge, kept alive.
Alongside scholarships and monthly books, we sustain relationships with people preserving and sharing island knowledge.
Micronesian Seminar
Habele supports the MicSem library on Yap, a collection of books, photographs, and other materials documenting Micronesia’s history and life. The library reopened in May 2025; our commitment continues.
Canoe carvers in Yap
Habele supports canoe carvers in Yap and the sharing of traditional knowledge. This is a living practice: people building, maintaining, and learning to use canoes together.
Occasional book donations
Have books to share?
We may be able to help place suitable donated books with a school or library from time to time. Email us about the books before packing or shipping them so we can discuss the need and arrangements.
Part of our story
Good work has a history.
Robotics, weaving, adze-blade projects, and sports initiatives helped shape Habele. Their stories belong in our history, while the commitments above describe our focus today.
Help sustain the work
Keep showing up.
A gift helps Habele keep its commitments to students, families, and island partners. Choose the work you want to support, or give where it is needed most.
